Jesús España (born August 21, 1978 in Valdemoro ) is a Spanish long-distance runner .

España mainly starts in the 3000-meter run and the 5000-meter run . He won his first international medal over 3000 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002 , when he won bronze behind his two compatriots Alberto García and Antonio David Jiménez . With 7: 48.08 min he was tied with the British John Mayock . At the European Championships in Munich , he finished eleventh over 5000 meters. At the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2003 he was fourth in 7: 42.70 min.

At the Ibero-American Championships in 2004, Jesús España won over 5000 meters.

In 2006 at the European Championships in Gothenburg , the Spanish runners were favored on all medium and long distances. Ultimately, Jesús España became the only European champion in the 5000-meter run when he fought in a typical lane race on the home stretch with the Brit Mo Farah and had a lead of nine hundredths of a second at the finish with 13: 44.70 min.

In 2007 he won bronze over 3000 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham and was seventh over 5000 meters at the World Championships in Osaka . At the Olympic Games in Beijing , he finished 14th over 5000 meters.

In 2009 he again won bronze over 3000 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Turin and was tenth at the World Championships in Berlin . At the European Championships in Barcelona in 2010 , he won silver over 5000 meters. In 2011 he was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Paris over 5000 meters, won the Great Ireland Run and was twelfth over 5000 meters at the World Championships in Daegu .

In 2012 he finished sixth at the Great Ireland Run.

So far he has been eight times Spanish champion over 5000 meters (2003, 2005-2011). In the hall he was five times national champion over 3000 meters (2003, 2007, 2009-2011).

Jesús España is 1.73 m and weighs 56 kg. He is trained by Dionisio Alonso and starts for the Amigos Valdemoro.
