The triple jump men at the 1978 European Athletics Championships was on 3 September 1978 Stadium Evžena Rošického of Prague held.

With silver and bronze, the Soviet three-jumpers won two medals in this competition. European champion was the Yugoslav Milos Srejović . He won in front of the triple Olympic champion ( 1968 / 1972 / 1976 ) and two-time European champion ( 1969 / 1974 ) Wiktor Sanejew . Bronze went to Anatoli Piskulin .
