The 4-by-100-meter relay team of women at the 1978 European Athletics Championships was on 2 and 3 September 1978 Stadium Evžena Rošického of Prague held.

The GDR became European champions with the cast of Christiane Marquardt , Barbara Krug , Christina Brehmer and Marita Koch . Second place went to the USSR with Tetiana Prorotschenko , Nadezhda Muschta , Tatiana Prowidochina and Marija Kultschunowa . Bronze went to Poland ( Małgorzata Gajewska , Krystyna Kacperczyk , Genowefa Błaszak , Irena Szewińska ).
