Elke Barth (athlete)
Elke Barth (married Schmitz ; born October 19, 1956 in Stolberg ) is a former German sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .
At the European Athletics Championships in Rome in 1974 she came in fifth place with the German team in the 4 x 400 meter relay . In the following year, a silver medal followed in the 4-by-320-meter relay at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1975 in Katowice.
She was also fifth in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and at the 1978 European Championships in Prague.
In 1974 and 1975 she was German runner-up. In 1975 she won the national title indoors.
Elke Barth started for TSV Bayer Dormagen .
