The women's 200-meter run at the 1990 European Athletics Championships was held on August 29 and 30, 1990 in the Poljud Stadium in Split .

In this competition there was a double victory for the sprinters of the GDR. Katrin Krabbe , who had already won the 100-meter run , also won the title here. After winning her sprint relay the following day, she became a three-time European champion. Second place went to the defending champion and long jump specialist Heike Drechsler , who was vice world champion in 1987 and third in the Olympic Games over 200 meters in 1988 . Bronze went to the Soviet runner Galina Maltschugina .
