Andrea Thomas (athlete, 1963)

Andrea Weiß , formerly Andrea Thomas , b. Andrea Irmgard Bersch (born April 9, 1963 in Güls ) is a former German sprinter .

Life

Starting for the Federal Republic of Germany, she won the silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1990 European Athletics Championships in Split ( Gabriele Lippe , Ulrike Sarvari , Thomas, Silke-Beate Knoll ; 43.2 s). At these European Championships, she finished eighth in the 200-meter run (23.01 s) and fourth with the 4 x 400-meter relay (3: 25.12 min).

At the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , she was fifth in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 43.20 s. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul she came fourth with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 42.76 s and the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 25.12 min; in the individual competitions she came over 100 meters into the quarter-finals and over 200 meters into the semi-finals.

Four years later at the Olympic Games in Barcelona she reached the quarter-finals over 200 meters and was fifth in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

Andrea Weiß belonged to the SSC Koblenz-Karthause, the SC Eintracht Hamm and the VfL Sindelfingen . In her competition time she was 1.75 m tall and 60 kg. She married in 1987 and since then has had the surname Thomas, after remarrying White. She is a trained retail saleswoman.
