Gabi Klein (Roth) , née Gabriele Lippe , (born May 8, 1967 in Brombach ) is a former German athlete who was active in the 100-meter hurdles .

Life

In 1984 she became German youth champion in the 100 meter hurdles and in 1985 in the hall for the 60 meter hurdles . In the open air, Roth also won over 100 meters and came sixth over the hurdles at the European Junior Championships and fifth with the 4 x 100 meter relay . In 1986 and 1988 she was German junior champion over 100 meter hurdles.

As for adults, Roth took part in the European Indoor Championships in 1987 in Liévin and in 1988 in Budapest. At the German championships she came third this year. She became German champion for the first time in 1989 in the hall. Shortly afterwards she won at the European Indoor Championships in The Hague in 7.96 s bronze behind Jordanka Donkowa and Lyudmila Naroschilenko . In the open air she was German runner-up.

She won her only German championship title in the 100 meter hurdles in 1990. At the European Championships in Split , she won the silver medal with the German team in the 4 x 100 meter relay (43.2 s: Lippe, Ulrike Sarvari , Andrea Thomas , Silke-Beate Knoll ). In the 100-meter hurdles of these European championships, she gave up in the final.

In 1992 Roth won the German Indoor Championship for the second time and came fourth outdoors. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​she was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 100-meter hurdles. At the end of the season, she represented Germany at the World Cup in Havana over the hurdles, where she was third, and in the 4 x 100 meter relay (sixth). In 1996 Roth was again German runner-up and fourth at the European Cup in Madrid.

Gabi Roth belonged to TuS Lörrach-Stetten , SG Siemens Karlsruhe and, from 1988, MTG Mannheim . During her competition time, she was 1.68 m tall and weighed 56 kg. In 1991 she married the handball player Ulrich Roth , from whom she was later divorced. She is a trained specialist teacher for sports and home economics. She has been married to Hans Klein since 2016 and lives in the Hunsrück / Rhineland-Palatinate.
