The women's 200-meter run at the 2016 European Athletics Championships was held on July 6th and 7th, 2016 in the Olympic Stadium in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam .

The British Dina Asher-Smith became the European champion . Silver gained as the next day about 100 meters , the Bulgarian 100m European champion of 2012 Ivet Lalova . Bronze went to the German Gina Lückenkemper .

For this discipline, a new competition mode was used for the first time. The eight strongest athletes on the European annual best list did not have to compete in the preliminary round, but only entered the semi-finals.

The preliminary round was held in four runs. The first three athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals.
