Laura de Witte (born August 7, 1995 in Leek ) is a Dutch athlete who competes over 200 and 400 meters.
Career
Laura de Witte gained her first international experience at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2011 in Trabzon , where she was eliminated in the semifinals in the 200-meter run with 25.10 seconds. In 2013 she took part in the Junior European Championships in Rieti , but retired there with 24.41 s in the first round. In 2016 she qualified over 200 meters for the European Championships in her home town of Amsterdam . She reached the semi-finals with a new personal best of 23.23 s and was eliminated there with 23.48 s. With the Dutch 4 x 400 meter relay, she finished seventh in the final in 3: 29.23 minutes. With this season she also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated with 3: 26.98 min in the preliminary round, but thus set a new Dutch record. At the U23 European Championships 2017 in Bydgoszcz , she won the bronze medal in the 400-meter run in 52.51 seconds . At the World Championships in London , she was disqualified with the relay in the run-up .
The following year she qualified over 400 meters for the European Championships in Berlin , where she was eliminated with 52.57 seconds in the lead. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , the relay did not make it to the final in 3: 30.07 minutes. In July she reached the semi-finals at the Summer Universiade in Naples , where she was eliminated with 54.45 s.
Her sister Lisanne de Witte is also a sprinter. She is a student at the HVA Voeding en Diëtetiek.
