The Schönhausen Palace is located in Schönhausen (Elbe) in the Altmark .

The castle is located in the northwest of the city and was built around 1700. It gained particular fame as the birthplace of Otto von Bismarck . In 1945 the family was expropriated. In 1958, at the instigation of the GDR authorities , the castle was blown up to one side wing, which has been used as the "Bismarck Museum" since 1998. The baroque Bismarck Park borders the former castle .

The castle is also known as Castle I ; Castle II stands for a preserved estate in Schönhausen, which also belonged to the von Bismarck family.
