The men's decathlon at the 1990 European Athletics Championships was held on August 28 and 29, 1990 in the Poljud Stadium in Split .

French Christian Plaziat became European champion . The Hungarian Dezső Szabó won the silver medal. Third place went to the 1988 Olympic champion Christian Schenk from the GDR.
