Frank Müller (athlete)

Frank Müller (born June 18, 1968 in Norden ) is a German athletics trainer and former decathlete .

At the German Championships in 1990 he took second place behind Michael Kohnle and in front of Thorsten Dauth . In 1994 he took third place behind Norbert Demmel and Michael Kohnle. In the same year he won the team championship in the decathlon with the team from TV Norden. In 1992 and 1996 he represented Germany at the Olympic Games and finished 13th and 14th in the decathlon, respectively. In 1996 he also won the European Cup in the decathlon with the DLV team. His best performance in the decathlon was achieved by Frank Müller, who was also a good triple jumper (best performance: 16.49 meters), with 8256 points on 21/22. July 1990 in Salzgitter. In total, the seven-time German champions (U20, U23 and men) exceeded the 8000 point limit ten times.

In 1998 Müller ended his career as a decathlete, but since then has been an honorary member of the board of the decathlon TEAM e. V. and works as a trainer. I.a. He looked after Stefan Schmid in 2000 and 2001 as well as all-around teams of the German Athletics Association . Professionally, he remained connected to athletics and sport: since 1998 he has been content manager and head of the athletics department at Philippka-Sportverlag , has published numerous articles and books as an author, editor and lecturer, and is head of the athletics department and in the publishing house. In 2020 Müller took over the duties of the chief national coach all around.
