The women's 400-meter hurdles at the 1990 European Athletics Championships took place from August 29 to 31, 1990 in the Poljud stadium in Split .

The European champion was the 1988 Olympic runner-up Tatjana Ledowskaja from the USSR. She won ahead of the Swiss Anita Protti . Bronze went to Monica Westén from Sweden .
