The men's 50 km walk at the 1990 European Athletics Championships was held on August 31, 1990 in the streets of Split .

In this competition, the GDR walkers won two medals, silver and bronze. Andrei Perlow from the Soviet Union became the European champion . Silver went to Bernd Gummelt . The Olympic champion from 1980 , Olympic third from 1988 , world champion from 1987 and defending champion Hartwig Gauder came third.

There was no preliminary round, all 31 walkers went to the final together.

Result

The European champion from 1978 and Olympic runner-up from 1980 Jorge Llopart did not finish here
