José Pinto

José Luís Franca Abranches Pinto (born June 19, 1956 in Lisbon ) is a former Portuguese walker .

At the European Athletics Championships in Athens in 1982, he came in 14th place in 20 km walking .

In 1983 he was ranked 23rd in 20 km walking and 16th in 50 km walking at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki and won silver in 20 km walking at the Ibero-American Championships .

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he came in eighth in 50 km walking and 25th in 20 km walking . In 1986 he did not finish at the European Championships in Stuttgart in 50 km walking . The following year he retired from the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1987 in Liévin in 5000 m walking in the preliminary round and at the World Championships in Rome in 20 km walking in 18th place and in 50 km walking in 15th place.

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, 31st place in the 20 km walk and 21st place in the 50 km walk .

In 1990 he didn’t reach the finish line at the European Championships in Split in 20 km or 50 km . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona he was disqualified in walking 50 km .

He was Portuguese champion six times in 20 km walking (1980–1984, 1990) and 50 km walking (1985, 1987, 1989–1991, 1993).
