Alstein is an island on the northern edge of the Håsteinsfjord in the municipality of Randaberg in the Norwegian province of Rogaland .
The rocky island is located about 2.6 kilometers from the mainland west of the Tungenes lighthouse . The Kvitsøyfjord extends to the north . The sparsely vegetated island is about 550 meters long and up to 300 meters wide. Both on the north and south side there is a bay that cuts deep into the island, so that the west and east parts of the island are only connected by a narrow isthmus 70 meters wide. Alstein reaches a height of up to 33 meters.
North of the island is the route of the ferries from Stavanger to Kvitsøy, six kilometers to the west .
