Tungenes fyr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tungenes fyr is a lighthouse on the headland Tungenes in the municipality Randaberg in Norwegian Fylke Rogaland . The first lighthouse was here in 1828. The current lighthouse was built in 1862 together with the farm building ( uthuset ) adjoining to the south . In 1898 the lighthouse was rebuilt. In 1938 the house of the lighthouse keeper ( fyrmester ) was built.

During the German occupation of Norway from 1940 to 1945, Tungenes was part of the Randaberg Fortress . The observation and gun positions that are still preserved today were built. Up to 40 Wehrmacht soldiers were stationed here. In 1947 the farm building was demolished and rebuilt. The service building was built between 1957 and 1958. In 1984 the beacon was taken out of service. The entire complex has been a listed building since 1998.

A small museum is housed in the former farm building and a café in the former service building.
