The men's 50 km race at the 1938 European Athletics Championships was held on September 4, 1938 in the Stade Olympique in the French capital, Paris .

The European champion was the British Harold Whitlock , who won ahead of the German Herbert Dill . Bronze went to the Norwegian owner of the world record, Edgar Bruun .
