Harold Whitlock

Harold Whitlock ( Hector Harold Whitlock ; born December 16, 1903 in Hendon , Middlesex , † December 27, 1985 in Wicklewood , Norfolk ) was a British walker and Olympic champion .

At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin , Whitlock won the 50 km competition in 4:30: 41.4 hours ahead of Swiss Arthur Tell Schwab (4: 32: 09.2 hours). 16 years later at the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 Whitlock started again and at the age of 48 was eleventh in 4: 45: 12.6 hours. With his time in 1936 he would at least have won bronze here.

At the European Championships in Paris in 1938 , Whitlock won the title in 4:41:51 h, two minutes ahead of the German Herbert Dill .
