Giuseppe Dordoni

Giuseppe "Pino" Dordoni (born June 28, 1926 in Piacenza , † October 24, 1998 ibid) was an Italian athlete and Olympic champion .

At the Olympic Games in 1948 , Dordoni was ninth in the 10,000-meter track walking. He won his first major title at the 1950 European Championships in 50 km walking . Two years later, Dordoni became Olympic champion over 50 km at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki . In 1956 Dordoni was ninth in the 20 km walk and in 1960 he was seventh again over 50 km.

The first Italian Olympic walking champion was Ugo Frigerio , Giuseppe Dordoni then continued the Italian walking tradition after the Second World War. At his last Olympic participation in 1960, his compatriot Abdon Pamich was third, who then became Olympic champion in 1964.
