Jared Tallent
Jared Tallent (born October 17, 1984 in Ballarat ) is an Australian walker .
Act
At the World Athletics Championships in 2005 , he finished 18th in the 20 km walk . Over the same distance he won the bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
In 2008 he set his best time over 20 km with 1:19:41 h and achieved his greatest successes to date when he won the bronze medal over 20 km and the silver medal over 50 km at the Olympic Games in Beijing , only one second slower .
In 2010 Tallent won the gold medal over 20 km at the Commonwealth Games . At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu he finished second in the 50 km walk after the conviction of the Russian doping offender Sergei Bakulin . In London , he triumphed over 50 km at the 2012 Olympic Games and became Olympic champion. He set a personal best with 3:36:53 h. The Russian Sergei Kirdjapkin , who was originally the winner, was subsequently stripped of the title because of doping . On June 17, 2016, Tallent was able to receive the gold medal. At the 2015 World Championships in Beijing , he won the silver medal over 50 km.
Life
Jared Tallent is 1.78 m tall and weighs 60 kg. He is studying at the University of Canberra with the aim of becoming a PE teacher . In 2008 Tallent married the Australian walker Claire Woods .
