The men's 50 km walk at the European Athletics Championships in 1971 was held on August 14, 1971 in the streets of Helsinki .

In this competition, the GDR walkers won two medals, silver and bronze. European champion was the European Championship third from 1969 Weniamin soldiersko from the Soviet Union. He won ahead of the defending champion and 1968 Olympic champion Christoph Höhne . Bronze went to the Vice European Champion from 1969 Peter Selzer .
