The men's 50 km walk at the 2014 European Athletics Championships took place on August 15, 2014 in the streets of Zurich . European champion who was Frenchman Yohann Diniz , who has already twice the EM had won -Titel ( 2006 / 2010 ) and the 2007 vice world champion had become. With his victory he set a new world record with 3:32:33 h. Second place went to Matej Tóth from Slovakia with a new national record . Bronze went to the Russian Ivan Noskow .

Record improvement

European champion Yohann Diniz improved his own EM record on August 15th at 8:04 minutes to 3:32:33 hours. At the same time he set a new world record and undercut the old mark by 1:41 min. FranceFrance

There was also a doping case on the long walk:

In the blood of the Russian walker Mikhail Ryschow was on 2 June 2015, the Russian training center in Saransk in a doping test erythropoietin proved (EPO). With him four other athletes were equally affected. The Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS different penalties were pronounced Mikhail Ryschow received a four-year ban from 15 July 2015 to 14 July 2019. In addition, were canceled by him achieved results, including his second place finish at the World Championships in 2013 and his fourth place in these European Championships .
