The shot put men at the 2014 European Athletics Championships was on 12 August 2014 in the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.

European champion was the German David Storl . He came here as defending champion, double world champion ( 2011 / 2013 ) and Olympic silver medalist from 2012 on. The Spaniard Borja Vivas secured the silver medal. Bronze went to the two-time Olympic champion ( 2008 /2012), Vice World Champion in 2009 and European champion in 2010 Tomasz Majewski of Poland .

23 participants competed in two groups for the qualifying round. The qualification distance for the direct entry into the final was 20.15 m. Six athletes exceeded this mark (highlighted in light blue). The final field was filled with the six next-placed athletes to twelve shot putters (highlighted in light green). So finally 19.88 m had to be achieved to take part in the finals.
