Carlos Tobalina Aspirez (born August 2, 1985 in Castro Urdiales ) is a Spanish shot putter .

Athletic career

Carlos Tobalina gained his first international experience in 2012 at the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto , where he took sixth place with a width of 18.47 m. In 2014 he took part in the European Championships in Zurich for the first time and reached the final there, in which he finished ninth with 20.04 m. The following year he was eliminated from qualifying at the European Indoor Championships in Prague with 19.18 m and in 2016 he was tenth at the World Indoor Championships in Portland with 19.86 m. He then classified himself in ninth place at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 19.85 m and was eliminated from qualification at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with 19.98 m . In 2017 he was eliminated from the qualification at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with 19.83 m and also at the World Championships in London he did not make it to the final with 19.87 m .

In 2018 he finished eighth at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona with 19.28 m and was eliminated from qualifying at the European Championships in Berlin with 19.41 m, as well as at the 2019 European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 19.06 m.

In 2018 and 2019 Tobalina was the Spanish champion in the shot put outdoors and in 2016, 2017 and 2019 also indoors.
