Kemal Mešić (born August 4, 1985 in Rogatica , SR Bosnia and Herzegovina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian shot putter who occasionally takes part in a discus throw .

Athletic career

Kemal Mešić gained his first international experience at the 2004 Junior European Championships in Grosseto , where he was eliminated with 49.06 m in the discus qualification, as well as at the U23 European Championships in Erfurt 2005 with 48.36 m. Even two years later, he was unable to qualify for the finals at the U23 European Athletics Championships in 2007, both in the shot put and in the discus throw. In 2009 he took ninth place at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara with 17.96 m, as well as at the Summer Universiade in Belgrade with 18.37 m. Two years later he reached tenth place with 18.66 m at the student world games in Shenzhen . In 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London for the first time and was eliminated there with 19.60 m in qualification . Also at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2013 in Gothenburg he could not qualify for the final with 19.71 m. He then finished fourth at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin with 19.60 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Championships in Moscow with 18.98 m.

In 2014 he was unable to qualify for the final at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot or the European Championships in Zurich , as well as at the 2015 European Indoor Championships in Prague with 19.04 m. At the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , he failed to make a valid attempt. Nevertheless, he again took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 18.78 m in qualification , as well as at the European Championships in Berlin in 2018 with 18.70 m. The following year he took part in the World Championships in Doha , but did not reach the final there with 19.49 m .

In 2011, 2013 and 2014 Mešić was the Bosnian champion in the shot put and in 2011, 2014 and 2015 also in the discus throw.
