Justus Rudolf Ferdinand von Seelhorst (born January 26, 1805 in Kroppenstedt , † March 5, 1887 in Naumburg (Saale) ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Ferdinand was a son of the Prussian major and lord on Podendorf Friedrich von Seelhorst (1755-1812) and his wife Henriette, born von Holleuffer (1774-1833), daughter of Heinrich August von Holleuffer .

Military career

Seelhorst visited the Berlin Cadet House and on October 13, 1822, was transferred to the 31st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a Second Lieutenant . From 1828 to 1830 he was a divisional school teacher of the 8th Division . In 1835 he was assigned to the training infantry battalion and promoted to prime lieutenant in mid-September 1835 . In 1836/39 a command to the topographic office followed . With a promotion to captain , Seelhorst returned to his regular regiment as a company commander on June 14, 1843 and was also director of the division school of the 8th Division from mid-July 1843 to mid-October 1847. He was promoted to major at the beginning of August 1848 and was commander of the III. Battalions in the 21st Landwehr Regiment. On February 10, 1853, he was transferred to the 14th Infantry Regiment as a battalion commander. After his promotion to lieutenant colonel Seelhorst was appointed commander of the May 7, 1857 4th Infantry Regiment appointed and climbed on October 15, 1857 patent on December 31, 1856 Colonel on. With his promotion to major general on July 1, 1860, Seelhorst was given command of the 5th Infantry Brigade in Stettin. During the German War in 1866, Seelhorst was President of the 2nd Ambulance Command of the 1st Army and on January 3, 1867 received the character of Lieutenant General. For the duration of the mobile relationship on the occasion of the war against France , Seelhorst was re-used in 1870/71 and used as commander of the 13th Infantry Brigade in Magdeburg . He died in Naumburg (Saale) in 1887.

family

Seelhorst married Auguste von Jagemann (* 1819) in Weimar on February 17, 1839, from whom he divorced on July 12, 1848. He then married Maria Freiin von Hövell (1827–1876) on June 24, 1852 in Alt-Stüdnitz . The following children emerged from the marriages:
