Robert Heffernan (born February 28, 1978 in Cork ) is an Irish walker .

At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton , he finished 14th in the 20 km walk , and came eighth at the 2002 European Championships in Munich . At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , he achieved sixth place. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , he finished eighth.

His most successful competitions to date were those at the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona, ​​Spain . Here he received the bronze medal over the 20 km distance after the disqualification of the Russian doping offender Stanislaw Jemeljanow and came fourth over the 50 km distance. With a time of 3:45:30 h over 50 km, he also set a new Irish national record. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , he achieved the bronze medal over 50 km with a personal best of 3:37:54 h.
