Südtirol Online ( stol.it ) is a news website in South Tyrol .
The website, known in South Tyrol as “stol” - an abbreviation for South Tyrol Online - has been online since November 8, 1997. Today a good 65% of the hits come from Italy and 35% from Austria. Südtirol Online is the news portal with the most hits in the Trentino-Alto Adige region .
Stol was founded by Athesia and the South Tyrolean provider D.Net . The publisher is Athesia Druck GmbH, which has its legal and tax headquarters in Bolzano . In 2000 the company Athesiadruck took over the D.Net shares and has been the sole owner of the site ever since. Via the Athesia, Stol belongs to the Bozen family Ebner and the diocese of Bozen-Brixen .
The editorial office of Stol is based in Bolzano. Editor-in-chief and responsible for press law is Toni Ebner . The focus of reporting in German is on regional information, which is supplemented by reports from Italy and international news; Since 2012 there has been a cooperation with the portal sportnews.bz for local sports .
In addition to editorial content, Stol also focuses on entertainment through event photography and self-produced comedy formats. The comedy series So sig i's with Dietmar Prantl in 2009 was followed in 2010 by the series Ban Luis with Thomas Hochkofler, Lukas Lobis and Markus Frings, a satire about the era of Governor Luis Durnwalder , the last episode of which caused a sensation as the latter himself occurred.
