Igor Olegowitsch Lapschin ( Russian Игорь Олегович Лапшин ; born August 8, 1963 in Minsk ) is a former Belarusian athlete who was successful as a three-jumper for the Soviet Union .
He celebrated the most important success of his career at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul . There he won the silver medal behind Christo Markow (17.61 m) and in front of Alexander Kowalenko (17.42 m) with a width of 17.52 m .
In 1990 Lapschin won the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow . In the same year he finished in Split at the European Outdoor Championships in third place behind Leonid Woloschin and Christo Markow. In 1991 Lapschin was world indoor champion in Seville . It was his last major international success. He started again under the Belarusian flag at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart , but failed in qualifying.
Igor Lapschin is 1.88 m tall and had a competition weight of 71 kg.
