Fabrizio Donato (born August 14, 1976 in Latina ) is an Italian athlete who specializes in the triple jump .

Career

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , he was eliminated in qualification. The following year he was sixth at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon and won gold at the Mediterranean Games . In 2002 he was fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna and fourth at the European Championships in Munich .

At the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , he did not get beyond the preliminary round, as well as at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg and the 2007 World Championships in Osaka .

In 2008 he finished fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia , but again failed to make it into the second round at the Olympic Games in Beijing . He celebrated his first major international success by winning the 2009 European Indoor Championships in Turin . At the World Championships in Berlin, however, he failed again in qualifying. In 2010 he was fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and ninth at the European Championships in Barcelona .

In 2011 he won the silver medal at the 2011 European Indoor Championships in Paris . In 2012 he won precious metal outdoors for the first time when he became European champion at the European Championships in Helsinki with a width of 17.63 m, the distance was not on the list due to too strong tailwind. In London , he jumped to the bronze medal at the London Olympics in 2012 . In 2017 he won another silver medal at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade, at the age of forty.

So far he has been Italian triple jump champion five times outdoors and ten times indoors. In 1999 he also won the national long jump title indoors .

Fabrizio Donato is 1.90 m tall and weighs 83 kg. He is trained by Roberto Pericoli and starts for Fiamme Gialle. His wife is the sprinter Patrizia Spuri .
