Daniele Greco

Daniele Greco (born March 1, 1989 in Galatone ) is an Italian triple jumper .

Athletic career

Greco played soccer in his youth before a physical education teacher recognized his athletic talent and made him triple jump. At the Athletics Junior World Championships in 2008 in Bydgoszcz, he finished fourth. The following year in Kaunas U23 European champion and third at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara . On the other hand, he clearly missed the finals at the World Championships in Berlin as 34th in the qualification. Also in 2010 at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and the European Championships in Barcelona , he could not qualify for the final. At the 2011 European Indoor Championships in Paris, he finished eighth.

In 2012 Greco was able to stabilize its performance in the range well over 17 meters and achieved the international breakthrough. At the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul , he finished fifth. A setback at the European Championships in Helsinki when he failed to qualify, he was followed by a victory at the Italian Championships and fourth place at the Olympic Games in London .

At the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg in 2013 , Greco won with a personal best of 17.70 meters, missing Fabrizio Donato's Italian record by just three centimeters.

The devout Christian Greco is considered one of the strongest three jumpers in the world class.
