Paolo Camossi
Paolo Camossi (born January 6, 1974 in Gorizia ) is an Italian athlete who specialized in the triple jump . He started for the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Azzurre.
He is 1.76 m tall and weighed 72 kg during his playing days.
Camossi won nine national championships, seven of which were open-air (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005) and two indoor championships (1996, 2000).
He was also successful on an international level.
- 1997 Mediterranean Games in Bari : GOLD triple jump with 16.63 m.
- European Championship 1998 in Budapest : 7th place in the long jump with 7.98 m. He was only eight centimeters short of a medal.
- Indoor European Championship 2000 in Gent : BRONZE with 17.05 m behind the German Charles Friedek (gold with 17.28 m) and Rostislaw Dimitrov from Bulgaria (silver with 17.22 m)
- 1999 World Cup in Seville : 5th place with 17.29 m. With this achievement he was 20 centimeters away from a medal, but set a new national record. The winner, Charles Friedek, achieved a world best of the year with 17.59 m.
- Indoor World Championships 2001 in Lisbon : GOLD with the new Italian record of 17.32 m ahead of Jonathan Edwards from Great Britain (silver with 17.26 m) and the Australian Andrew Murphy (bronze with 17.20 m).
In 2000 Camossi took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney , where he came in eighth place with 16.96 m.
