The Witt Bluff is a cliff in the east of the West Antarctic Alexander Island . It rises as the eastern end of a rock spur of the Planet Heights on the southwest flank of the Eros Glacier .
The British Directorate of Overseas Surveys mapped it together with the United States Geological Survey using satellite images from NASA . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1974 based on the name of the Eros Glacier after the German astronomer Gustav Witt (1866-1946), who discovered the asteroid (433) Eros in 1898 .
