The Planet Heights are a 38.5 km long mountain range in the east of the Alexander I Island west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They comprise a series of mountain peaks along a ridge with north-south orientation between the southern section of the LeMay Range and the George VI Sound .
The British geographer Derek Searle from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped the mountains in 1960 using aerial photographs taken during the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948). In 1961, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee took the name from those of nearby glaciers, which were named after various planets .
