Sandra Gasser

Sandra Gasser (born July 27, 1962 in Bern ) is a former Swiss athlete specializing in medium-distance runs .

Career

After she finished third at the World Athletics Championships in 1987 in the 1500 meter run , she was tested positive for doping and disqualified.

After her two-year ban, she came back to the top of the world and won the silver medal at the 1990 European Indoor Championships , the bronze medal at the 1990 European Championships and the 1993 World Indoor Championships , although she fell in this race before the finish line.

Sandra Gasser was Swiss champion seven times and held the Swiss record in the 800 meter run for 28 years from 1987 with 1: 58.90 minutes. On July 4th, 2015, Selina Büchel beat her record with a time of 1: 57.95 minutes.

Gasser is 1.71 m tall and had a competition weight of 52 kg. Today she trains the athlete Maja Neuenschwander .
