Maureen Koster (born July 3, 1992 in Gouda ) is a Dutch athlete who competes in medium and long-distance running .

Athletic career

In 2009 Maureen Koster appeared at the European Youth Olympic Festival and took ninth place over 1500 meters. In 2010, she was eliminated at the Junior World Championships in Moncton, Canada in the preliminary round, as well as at the Junior European Championships in Tallinn the following year. In 2013 she made it to the final of the U23 European Championships , but could not finish her run there. She also qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where she advanced to the semi-finals.

In 2014 she qualified for the European Championships in Zurich , but dropped out again in the first round. At the European Indoor Championships in 2015 , she won her first medal at an international championship in the 3000 meter run. She qualified both over 1500 meters and over 5000 meters for the World Championships in Beijing . In the 1500 meter competition , she made it to the semifinals, while she couldn't finish her run in the second discipline. In 2016, she just missed another medal in fourth place at the World Indoor Championships . She also qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round .

At the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , she came in fourth over 3000 meters again.

In 2012, 2013 and 2015 Koster was the Dutch champion over 1500 meters outdoors and in 2017 over 3000 meters indoors.
