Luminita Zaituc

Luminita Zaituc (actually: Luminița Zaițuc, also Zaituc-Zelaskowski ; born October 9, 1968 in Bucharest ) is a former German long-distance runner of Romanian origin who has her greatest successes on the marathon route .

Career

In 1990 Luminita Zaituc moved to Germany. At the World Athletics Championships in 1993 , she came in 14th place in the 3000 meter run . In August 1996 she received German citizenship .

Luminita Zaituc started from 1995 until the end of her career in 2009 for the athletics community LG Braunschweig ( MTV Braunschweig ). She has been German champion several times, including once in the 10,000 meter run , three times in the cross-country run , five times in the 10-kilometer road run and four times in the half marathon .

In 2001 she finished second in the Hamburg Marathon , won the Route du Vin and ran her best time of 2:26:01 h when she won the Frankfurt Marathon , where she also won in 2003. At the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 , she won the silver medal behind Maria Guida (ITA) and ahead of Sonja Oberem (GER).

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens she finished 18th. Then she set her half marathon best time of 1:09:35 h as second in the Route du Vin and was sixth in the New York City Marathon .

In 2005 she was second in the Berlin Marathon and in 2006 first in the Cologne Marathon .

From 2005 to 2007 she won the Düsseldorf Marathon , and in 2008 and 2009 the half marathon route of the Bonn Marathon .

At the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin, she took part in the marathon. However, she had to give up the race after about half the distance due to a stitch . The reason for this, according to her statement, was that she had been served the wrong drink at a refreshment station, which was intended for her teammate Ulrike Maisch . In the same year she ended her competitive sports career. In the end, she finished tenth in the Frankfurt Marathon.

She is 1.65 m tall, weighed 47 kg at competition times and was a member of the Bundeswehr sports promotion group. She was trained by her significant other, Dumitru Dobre.
