Thomas Goller

Thomas Goller (born October 28, 1977 in Dohna , Pirna district , GDR ) is a former German athlete . He was an Olympic participant and several times German champion over 400 m hurdles .

Life

Thomas Goller began his sporting career as a swimmer , but switched to athletics in 1988, motivated by his father Stefan Goller , who himself was a pole vaulter with a top performance of 4.00 m.

He first started for the SC Einheit Dresden and trained there under Erika Falz , before moving to the Leipzig Athletics Center and from then on trained under Volker Beck . He later moved to LG Asics Pirna . Since 2007 he started for TV Wattenscheid 01 .

In 2010 Thomas Goller was convicted of doping with anabolic steroids (boldenone and 5β-androst-1-en-17β-ol-3-one) and banned for two years. His association TV Wattenscheid 01 canceled the contract with immediate effect and Goller resigned from competitive sports.

Thomas Goller is 1.90 m tall and weighed 82 kg at competition times. His best performance in the 400 meter hurdles is 48.54 s (1999). His trademark was that he always wore sunglasses when racing . He was in a relationship with the German athlete Sina Schielke . The two had their daughter in August 2008.

  • 1999: 2nd place European Cup (400 m hurdles), German champion (400 m hurdles), U23 European champion (400 m hurdles, 4 × 400 m)
  • 2000: Participation in the Olympic Games (400 m hurdles - eliminated in the semifinals)
  • 2009: German indoor champion (400 m), German champion (400 m hurdles)
