The President of the LAZ Leipzig was the Saxon state parliament member Robert Clemen , managing director Knut Iwan . At the time of its incorporation, the association had around 500 members.
The responsible base trainer is national sprint trainer Ronald Stein, who replaced Cheick-Idriss Gonschinska after his appointment as DLV head trainer.
history
The LAZ Leipzig was founded on November 21, 1996 and thus emerged from the competitive athletics department of the SC DHfK Leipzig after no Leipzig athlete took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . This was also the result of a poor financial situation that attracted the good young athletes to the old federal states. Financial resources were bundled in this way.
In March 2015, the Leipzig Athletics Center merged again with the SC DHfK Leipzig and has since formed the Athletics Center department at the SC DHfK.
