Peter Sack (born July 27, 1979 in Schkeuditz ) is a former German shot putter .

Peter Sack made his first international appearance at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. With a best distance of 20.32 m and as the German runner-up with 20.22 m, he qualified for it. In Athens he hit 19.09 m in qualification, did not make it to the final and finally finished 28th.

2007 was the most successful year for Peter Sack. It started with the victory at the German Indoor Athletics Championships in his hometown of Leipzig . He took gold with a 19.70 m kick.

In 2007 he competed in nine outdoor competitions and won seven of them. On June 10th, he succeeded in his first 21-meter push in Schönebeck - the ball landed exactly on the 21-meter mark. In the DLV jersey , he won the shot put competition at the European Cup in Munich and won his first German outdoor championship in Erfurt's Steigerwald Stadium. The 20.68 m kicked meant the title and qualification for the World Championships in Osaka . Only in the last attempt did Sack pass his competitor Ralf Bartels with this distance .

In Osaka, however, Sack struggled with an injury. Because of chest muscle problems, he could only make one attempt in qualifying. This was not enough for the final.

On May 17, 2008, he improved his personal best in Versmold to 21.19 m and was nominated for the Olympic Games in Beijing . In the local qualification for the final battle, he failed with 20.01 m due to the required distance. For the twelfth and final place in the final, the Russian Ivan Juschkow, who was subsequently disqualified for doping in August 2016, cheated him by just one centimeter more (20.02 m).

In 2010 he announced his retirement from competitive sports.

Peter Sack had a competition weight of 135 kg with a height of 1.92 m. He started working for the LAZ Leipzig in 1997 . His brother René Sack was also a shot putter.
