René Sack

René Sack (born July 14, 1976 ) is a former German shot putter and current athletics coach. He was once able to win the German indoor championship in the shot put .

Sports career

After attending a children's and youth sports school in Berlin, he switched to the Leipzig sports high school in 1990 .

At the German indoor championships in 2001 in the Helmut-Körnig-Halle  in  Dortmund , he won his first and only German championship in the shot put with a width of 19.39 meters. A year later he won the bronze medal behind Ralf Bartels and Andy Dittmar at the German open-air championships in 2002 in the Wattenscheid district of Bochum . At the German championships in 2003 he secured the silver medal behind Ralf Bartels with a width of 19.75 meters.

René Sack ended his active career in 2005 due to a foot injury.

Coaching career

Between 1999 and 2006 he studied sports science at the University of Leipzig and completed his studies as a certified sports teacher . Nowadays he works as a trainer for the Halle Athletics Friends and one of his protégés is, for example, the shot putter Sara Gambetta from SV Halle. He also trains discus thrower Nadine Müller from SV Halle and hammer thrower Susen Küster from TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

Familiar

His younger brother Peter Sack is also a former shot putter and has twice participated in the Summer Olympics.
