Robert Clemen
Robert Clemen (born July 21, 1967 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been the district chairman of the party in his hometown since 2013 and between 2018 and 2019 a member of the Saxon state parliament , to which he had previously belonged from 1999 to 2014.
Life
After completing the 10th grade and musical remedial instruction, Clemen studied trombone as the main subject at the Leipzig University of Music from 1984 and has been a member of the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra (now the MDR Symphony Orchestra ) since 1989 . For several years he was chairman of the MDR staff council. From 2002 to 2008 he was managing partner of R&T International GmbH Leipzig, from 2008 to 2013 managing partner of Lensclub 24 GmbH. He is a producer at MDR Klassik.
Clemen is Protestant, married and has a daughter.
politics
In 1989, Clemen was one of the founders of the Democratic Awakening and has been a member of the CDU since 1990. In 1991, Clemen became a member of the CDU's district board in Leipzig and was deputy district chairman from 2002 to 2006. Since May 2013 Clemen has been chairman of the CDU district association Leipzig-Stadt.
In 1999 Clemen became a member of the Saxon State Parliament and represented the constituency of Leipzig 1 there . In the Mayor election in Leipzig in 2005 he challenged the Mayor of Leipzig, Wolfgang Tiefensee, and achieved third place with 9.8% of the votes after the candidates of the SPD and the PDS. On August 30, 2009 , Robert Clemen was confirmed as a member of the state parliament and in September 2009 elected to the board of the CDU parliamentary group.
In the 4th parliamentary term (2004–2009), Clemen was chairman of the committee for science and universities, culture and media and a member of the committee for environment and agriculture. In the 5th electoral term (2009–2014) he was a member of the Committee for Science and University, Culture and the Media and, since August 2011, Chairman of the Committee for Rules of Procedure and Immunity Matters and was a member of the Presidium.
In the 2014 state elections , he was the only direct candidate of the Saxon CDU to miss the mandate in constituency 28 (Leipzig 2 Süd), which Juliane Nagel ( Die Linke ) won, and left the state parliament at the end of the legislative period. As a replacement for Alexander Krauss , who was elected to the Bundestag in the 2017 Bundestag election, he returned to the Landtag in January 2018.
Committee activities
Robert Clemen was President of the Leipzig Athletics Center from 2002 to 2015 and has been Chairman of the German Grayling Society since 1993 . From 2005 to 2011 he was Vice President of the Saxon Music Council, and from 2006 to 2015 a member of the Radio Council and Program Committee of Deutschlandradio.
