Srđan Čebinac ( Serbian Cyrillic Срђан Чебинац ; born December 8, 1939 in Belgrade , Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslav football player and coach .

Player career

societies

Čebinac played for the first division side Partizan Belgrade at the age of 16 . In 1957, at the end of his inaugural season, he won the cup with the team. In three seasons he was used in 15 point games and scored three goals. For the 1961/62 season he was obliged by league rivals OFK Belgrade , for whom he scored 24 goals in 50 games in three seasons. Here, too, he won the national club cup with the team at the end of his premier season. He was also used with the team in four games for the European Cup Winners' Cup , where he scored a goal in the second round first leg against the Northern Irish Cup finalists Portadown FC . He played both quarter-finals against SSC Napoli , but not the play-off against the Italian representative and not the two semi-finals against eventual cup winners Tottenham Hotspur .

After a convincing trial session at 1. FC Köln , he was signed up as a midfielder by the German Bundesliga club for the 1965/66 season . However, he was never able to confirm these achievements, so that he could only make his debut in the top German division on March 5, 1966 (24th matchday), in a 3-1 win at home against TSV 1860 Munich . This was followed by two more point games, where he scored in his last, on March 26, 1966 (27th matchday) in the 1: 2 defeat in the away game against Borussia Neunkirchen with the goal to 1: 1 in the 15th minute, his only Bundesliga goal . He also played the last 16 game for the DFB Cup at Bayern Munich, which was lost 2-0 on March 19, 1966 .

For the 1966/67 season he moved to the Dutch first division club Sittardia . At the end of the season 1967/68, the club rose from bottom of the table in the Eerste Divisie . Čebinac escaped relegation because he joined the Austrian first division club FK Austria for the 1968/69 season, but only played nine point games and scored two goals in the National League in his first season; thus he contributed to the championship. He was also used once in the ÖFB Cup (2 goals) and twice in the Intertoto Cup and once in the following season.

Returned to the Netherlands, he played the 1971/72 season for the second division Fortuna Sittard , the club merged from Sittardia and Fortuna 54 Geleen in 1968.

National team

On March 18, 1964, he played his only international match for the senior national team , which won 1-0 in Sofia against the national team of Bulgaria .

Others

The following story persists around Čebinac's commitment from 1. FC Köln: To this day, it is speculated that his significantly more talented twin brother Zvezdan Čebinac , who was successful for 1. FC Nürnberg and Hannover 96 in the 1. Bundesliga from 1967 to 1971 , is in his place played, completed the trial training to help his twin brother get a contract.
