The FC Nordstern Basel is a Swiss football club .

history

It was founded on March 21, 1901. In 1903 he was accepted into the Swiss Football Association .

In 1908 , FC Nordstern became Serie B champions in Central Switzerland. In 1910 the Young Fellows Basel were affiliated. In 1924, the year the stadium, the Rankhof , was inaugurated , the first team under coach Izidor "Dori" Kürschner secured promotion and the juniors the title of champions of Central Switzerland. In 1935 the club made it into the cup final for the first time . However, the Basel lost this 0:10 against Lausanne. The club reached the Cup final again in 1939, but also lost this game against Lausanne (2-0).

In 1923 , 1927 and 1928 FC Nordstern was runner-up in Switzerland.

12 FC Nordstern players have played for the Swiss national team over the years . 13 international matches were played in the FC Nordstern stadium.

From 1966 to 1968 the later "globetrotter" Otto Pfister played and trained at FC Nordstern.

From its inception until today, FC Nordstern has played in the highest Swiss football league for a total of 35 seasons. ( 1911 - 1943 ; 1978/79 and 1980 - 1982 )

FC Nordstern Basel is currently in 20th place in the all-time Super League table .
