The Neufeld stadium is a football and athletics stadium located in the Neufeld district of Bern . It is the home of the Bern football club FC Bern and the U21s of BSC Young Boys and is currently the city's second largest football stadium after the Wankdorf stadium . It has 14,000 seats (11,000 standing and 3,000 seats). All seats are covered, but all standing areas are in the open air. In 1954 the European Athletics Championships were held.
During the new construction of the Stade de Suisse Wankdorf, the first team of the BSC Young Boys also used the Neufeld Stadium from 2001 to 2005. In 2009, Stade de Suisse AG took over the operation and maintenance of the facility. Additional artificial turf pitches (two large football pitches , two small training fields and a plastic basketball field) have been created for the youth teams of the BSC Young Boys and for popular sports . The playing field of the main stadium is still made of natural grass .
