The FC Bern is a Swiss football club from the city of Bern . The first team currently plays in the 2nd division .

history

FC Bern was founded on June 6, 1894 by Felix Schenk. For a long time the club also had a successful women's section, which today, however, plays under the name BSC YB Women (formerly FFC Bern ).

FC Bern has been taking part in the Swiss championship since the 1898/99 season. The club had its best times in the early to mid-20th century. In the 1922/23 season , FC Bern became Swiss champions . However, the title was stripped of the club due to the late registration of a player. Bern took part in the Mitropa Cup in 1936 . From 1943 - 1965 the FC Bern played in the National League, including six years in the National League A , the top division. He played in the National League B for the last time in 1983 , in the following years he rose again and again and reached its low point in 1998 when he was relegated to the 3rd division .

FC Bern was relegated from the 2nd interregional league (Group 3) in 2016. The Fanion team tries with talented and ambitious players to get promoted.
