The Grand American Road Racing Association, or Grand-Am for short, is an American motorsport association based in Daytona Beach , Florida , which was founded in 1999 and organizes car races in North America . The most important series is the Grand-Am Sports Car Series (currently Rolex Sports Car Series).

On September 4, 2008, NASCAR announced a collaboration with Grand-Am to enable joint organization in the areas of communication, research and marketing.

With the merger of the Grand-Am Sports Car Series and the American Le Mans Series to form United SportsCar Racing , both the combined series and all current Grand Am Series will switch to the International Motor Sports Association .

Grand-Am racing series

The Grand-Am is currently organizing four racing series:

  • Rolex Sports Car Series , (since 2000) for Daytona prototype sports cars and GT vehicles
  • Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, (since 2001) for near-series touring cars and GT vehicles
  • Ferrari 458 Challenge Series one-make cup with Ferrari 458 Challenge racing car
  • Shell Historic Challenge in which historic models from the brands Ferrari , Maserati and Alfa Romeo are used

In the past the following were also aligned

  • SunTrust Moto-ST Series, (2007-2008) for long-distance motorcycle races (since 2009 under the leadership of the AMA )
  • Ford Racing Mustang Challenge, (2008-2010) in which only Ford Mustang were used
