Ernst Larsen

Ernst Larsen ( Ernst Willy "Kruska" Larsen; born July 18, 1926 in Ranheim , Sør-Trøndelag ; † December 2, 2015 ibid.) Was a Norwegian obstacle and long-distance runner .

He won over 3000 m obstacle at the European Athletics Championships in 1954 in Bern, the first heat before the Hungarian Sándor Rozsnyói . In the final, the Hungarian won ahead of the Finn Olavi Rinteenpää , and Larsen improved the Norwegian record to 8: 53.2 minutes in third.

In 1956, Larsen managed the fastest run of his career in September with 8: 42.4 minutes. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne , Larsen was able to qualify for the final as third of the first heat in 8: 46.8 min. In the final he almost reached his best time in 8: 44.0 min and crossed the finish line in third behind the British surprise winner Chris Brasher and Sándor Rozsnyói.

Five times he was Norwegian champion over 3000 m obstacle over 3000 m obstacle (1951, 1955–1957, 1959), four times in cross country (1954, 1956–1958), twice over 5000 m (1955, 1958) and once over 10,000 m (1958 ). In total, Larsen set 15 national records.

Ernst Larsen lived in Trondheim all his life . He died at the age of 89.
