The men's 400-meter hurdles at the 2002 European Athletics Championships took place from August 7th to 9th, 2002 in the Munich Olympic Stadium.

European champion was the French world champion in 1997 , vice world champion in 1999 and European championship third in 1994, Stéphane Diagana . He won ahead of the Czech Jiří Mužík . The Polish defending champion Paweł Januszewski won the bronze medal.
